I love spring. As the the days get warmer and the snow melts away, I watch eagerly for the first signs of spring. Are the crocuses coming up in my front garden? Are the tulips peeking through the dirt? When will the first soft green leaves appear in the forest?

We get a sneak peek at spring each year when we go to Victoria to visit family over Spring Break. This year I had fun driving around the city with my mother-in-law looking for blooming trees amongst the historic houses of Oak Bay. Back at home in my painting studio, I have enjoyed capturing these whimsical and ephemeral spring blossoms in several new paintings.
